Abstract:Pitting corrosion behavior of Ti with a passive film under breakdown was investigated from the points of film thickness and oxygen-related species in the film. A Ti specimen was passivated in a sulfuric acid solution at 5.0 VAg/AgCl at 323 and 353 K. A passivation current decreased, increased, and then slightly decreased with increasing passivation time; the periods were denoted as Region (i), (ii) and (iii), respectively. A pitting potential of the specimen passivated in Region (i) was almost independent o… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
