Place of Death

Abstract: Place of death (PoD) refers to the specific venue where death occurs. More comprehensively, it could refer to the site where a dying person lives and/or receives care for the later stages of his/her life. PoD not only relates to a geographical location, but also relates to end-of-life experiences and associated meanings. It reflects the negotiations among personal wishes, physical vulnerability, and resources, and is often influenced by culture and current policies of health and care.
