In this paper, a co-caliber structure for dual-polarized dual-band (DPDB) radiation is presented through cross-polarized modes manipulation. After introducing slots and a connection branch into a typical patch antenna, two orthogonal radiation modes with different electrical-length achieved a meandered current mode at the lower frequency and a patch radiation mode at the higher frequency. The radiation patterns at both frequencies are patch-like, benefitting from certain feeding designs. The dual frequencies can be manipulated independently since their working modes are independent. In addition, compared with the traditional patch, the proposed antenna performs a higher aperture efficiency with a miniaturized antenna dimension. The antenna is finally fabricated and measured. The measured results showed that the antenna is evidently cross-polarized working at 10.38 GHz and 14.2 GHz and the gains are 5.57 dB and 6.82 dB, respectively. With the advantages of being compact, easily fabricated, and integrated, the proposed antenna can be potentially utilized in antenna research, polarization manipulation, multichannel communication system, and so on.

A compact dual-band tripolarized antenna with simple structure and high isolation operating at 2.45 GHz and 3.5 GHz bands is presented. The design is composed of a slotted patch and a monopolar patch connected together by four vias. The antenna uses a double differential-fed scheme for xand yhorizontally polarized broadside radiations and a single-ended port at the center for vertically-polarized omnidirectional radiation. The combination of slotted patch, monopolar patch, and vias yields several interesting features, which are exploited in the design to achieve dual-band tripolarized operation. Thank to the differential feed scheme and structural symmetry, the proposed antenna achieves a very high isolation among all ports. For verification, the final design is fabricated and measured. The double differential-fed scheme are realized by using two wideband out-of-phase power dividers, whose operational bandwdith covers both 2.45 and 3.5 GHz bands. The antenna with profile of 0.09λ 2.45−GHz yields a measured 10-dB return loss bandwidth of 2.43 − 2.49 GHz and 3.23 − 3.66 GHz and isolation of ≥ 35 dB among all ports. Tripolarized radiation is verified with far-field measurement, showing highly symmetrical pattern and low cross-polarization in all three operational modes. The proposed design is a good candidate for dual-band communication systems which require polarization and pattern diversity antennas.

Resumo-Este artigo apresenta o projeto de uma antena de microfita retangular com dupla alimentação, banda de operação e polarização. Tem-se a operação na frequência de 3,5 GHz com polarização no plano do campo elétrico (no modo fundamental (TM z 100) -aplicado à tecnologia 5G) e na frequência de 5,2 GHz com polarização no plano do campo magnético (no modo de terceira ordem (TM z 030) -aplicado à tecnologia Wi-Fi). A antena é formada a partir da sobreposição geométrica ortogonal de duas técnicas, sendo uma que permite o aumento de ganho e outra que permite a filtragem de modos de alta ordem.
