Planning of Hybrid Micro-Hydro and Solar Photovoltaic Systems for Rural Areas of Central Java, Indonesia

Abstract: This paper proposes the planning of hybrid micro-hydro and solar photovoltaic system for rural areas of Central Java, Indonesia. The Indonesian government has paid great attention to the development of renewable energy sources, especially solar and hydropower. One area that has a high potential for both types of energy is the province of Central Java, located on the island of Java, Indonesia. In this research, we conduct field research to determine the ideal capacity of solar and micro-hydro hybrid power plant… Show more

“…Salah satu perangkat yang dapat digunakan untuk ISSN : 2746 -2536 memodelkan tinjauan kinerja ini adalah HOMER (Hybrid Optimization Model for Electric Renewables) [4]. Perangkat lunak ini mengoptimasi desain sistem pembangkit hibrid berdasarkan nilai NPC (Net Present Cost) terendah dengan output estimasi ukuran atau kapasitas sistem, dan biaya [5].…”

“…The hybrid system is a solution to increase the generated and achievable power capacity and reduce carbon production [12]. Although several researchers have conducted studies on different energy sources in hybrid PV-diesel systems [13], hydro-PV [14], the main problems of hybrid systems are control and power quality.…”

“…Across its five major islands and 30 smaller island groups, Indonesia has 120 million hectares of rain forest, including about 450 catchment areas. Because of its long rainy season that runs from November to March, there is ample water for developing a variety of power sources based on hydropower (Erinofiardi et al, 2017;Syahputra & Soesanti, 2020), including small scale MHP.…”
