In recent years, intelligent sensor techniques have achieved significant attention in agriculture. It is applied in agriculture to plan the several activities and missions properly by utilising limited resources with minor human interference. Currently, plant cultivation using new agriculture methods is very popular among the growers. However, the aeroponics is one of the methods of modern agriculture, which is commonly practiced around the world. In the system, plant cultivates under complete control conditions in the growth chamber by providing a small mist of the nutrient solution in replacement of the soil. The nutrient mist is ejected through atomization nozzles on a periodical basis. During the plant cultivation, several steps including temperature, humidity, light intensity, water nutrient solution level, pH and EC value, CO2concentration, atomization time, and atomization interval time require proper attention for flourishing plant growth. Therefore, the object of this review study was to provide significant knowledge about early fault detection and diagnosis in aeroponics using intelligent techniques (wireless sensors). So, the farmer could monitor several paraments without using laboratory instruments, and the farmer could control the entire system remotely. Moreover, the technique also provides a wide range of information which could be essential for plant researchers and provides a greater understanding of how the key parameters of aeroponics correlate with plant growth in the system. It offers full control of the system, not by constant manual attention from the operator but to a large extent by wireless sensors. Furthermore, the adoption of the intelligent techniques in the aeroponic system could reduce the concept of the usefulness of the system due to complicated manually monitoring and controlling process.

Early, lots of systems are designed to monitor the various environmental parameters on plant growth, such as humidity, temperature, solar illuminance, etc., e.g., James and Maheshwar ( 2016 ) used multiple sensors to measure the soil data of plants and transmitted these data to the mobile phone by Raspberry Pi; Okayasu et al ( 2017 ) developed a self-powered wireless monitoring device that is equipped with some environmental sensors; Guo et al ( 2018 ) added big-data services to analyze the environmental data on plant growth. Internet of Things (IoT) realizes the real-time video monitoring of plant propagation or growth in the wild. However, the monitoring time is seriously limited by the battery capacity of the visual sensor, which poses a challenge to the long-working plant monitoring. Video coding is the most consuming component in a visual sensor, it is important to design an energy-efficient video codec in order to extend the time of monitoring plants. This article presents an energy-efficient Compressive Video Sensing (CVS) system to make the visual sensor green. We fuse a context-based allocation into CVS to improve the reconstruction quality with fewer computations. Especially, considering the practicality of CVS, we extract the contexts of video frames from compressive measurements but not from original pixels. Adapting to these contexts, more measurements are allocated to capture the complex structures but fewer to the simple structures. This adaptive allocation enables the low-complexity recovery algorithm to produce high-quality reconstructed video sequences. Experimental results show that by deploying the proposed context-based CVS system on the visual sensor, the rate-distortion performance is significantly improved when comparing it with some state-of-the-art methods, and the computational complexity is also reduced, resulting in a low energy consumption.

Aeroponics and hydroponics technologies are one of the most advanced today. The aim of this work is to select and assess the assortment of determinant tomatoes for suitability for cultivation under the conditions of this technology. The study was conducted on the crop of two specific hybrids of different foliar dressings, as well as the assessment of the level of interaction «variety-option of feeding» based on the statistical analysis of the results. The article discusses the features of two methods of the aeroponics and Fitopyramida soilless technology in the context of solving the problems of resource and energy conservation in the production of vegetables. It is applied in agriculture to plan the several activities and missions properly by utilizing limited resources with minor human interference. The aim of this work is to evaluate the effectiveness of non-root top dressing and to identify the optimal habitus and other characteristics of the determinant tomato hybrid for the “Fitopiramida” technology. A greenhouse research project was conducted at All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Vegetable Growing - a branch of the Federal State Budgetary Scientific Institution “Federal Scientific Center of Vegetable Growing” (VNIIO - a branch of FGBNU FNTSO). This study was revealed that 2 foliar dressing at a dose (N: P: K 10:54:10) 2.5 g/l + Maxifol 2g/l ) have a significant impact on productivity and yield determinant hybrids of tomato Flame F1 and Rosana F1, providing yield increase in comparison with the control by 7.87 kg/m2 and 2.52 kg/m2, respectively. Among the investigated options for the use of mineral fertilizers, the most maximum and reliable results were obtained in the 3NPK option; on the basis of statistical processing, the optimal variant of the interaction «variety-level of mineral nutrition» was established - hybrid F1 Rozanna against the background of 3NPK.
