Breast carcinoma is one of the most malignant tumors, severely influencing the physical and mental health of people. The latest epidemiological and clinical studies have found that breast tumor and inflammation are determinate relationships with each other. Inflammation is an essential component of the tumor microenvironment, and the change of inflammatory cells might influence tumor progression, such as neoplastic cell proliferation, migration, invasion, the collapse of antitumor immunity, metastasis and so forth. Peripheral blood tests at the time of diagnosis and treatment can reflect inflammatory conditions within the neoplasm. Evaluation of peripheral blood parameters including white blood cell, neutrophil, lymphocyte, monocyte, platelet counts, as well as neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), derived neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (d-NLR) (neutrophil count divided by the result of white blood cell count minus neutrophil count), platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR) and lymphocyte-to-monocyte ratio (LMR), which are indicators of systematic inflammatory response, have been widely proposed as prognostic factors for many malignancies. To intensively study the relationship between the common markers in peripheral blood and the treatment or prognosis of breast cancer will have critical clinical significance and application prospect, and can provide useful information for the clinicians. Herein, we review the research progress in the prognostic role of the peripheral blood in breast cancer to provide a new method for the treatment and prognosis of breast cancer.

BackgroundDuctal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) is a non-invasive disease that rarely causes distant metastasis. It is extremely rare for patients diagnosed with DCIS without microinvasion to develop distant metastasis in the absence of ipsilateral or contralateral breast recurrence. This is the first case report of multiple liver and lung metastases from DCIS after breast-conserving surgery and radiotherapy.Case PresentationA 45-year-old woman who was diagnosed with DCIS and received breast-conserving surgery, radiotherapy, and sequential endocrine therapy developed multiple metastases in the liver and lung despite not having bilateral breast recurrence at the 62-month follow-up. Comprehensive advanced breast cancer therapy was administered but did not prevent the progression of metastatic foci in the liver.ConclusionsThis case shows the poor potential outcome in DCIS. Further research should be conducted on metastasis in DCIS; reexamination and monitoring are indispensable for patients diagnosed with DCIS.

Background: CA 15-3 serum is one of the tumor marker that has been recommended by American Soviety of Clinical Oncology to show the response of the therapy, prognosis and metastasis of the breast cancer. CA 15-3 serum is a mucin that will be expressed by breast cancer cell. The over expression of CA 15-3 serum can be occurred if the cell progressivity is increase. Several studies have shown that CA 15-3 serum is increasing in metastasis breast cancer. Objective: This study aimed to determine the relationship between the CA 15-3 serum with metastasis breast cancer. Methods: This study used a cross sectional design in breast cancer patient at Dr. M Djamil Hospital. Sampling using consequtive sampling technique with a total sample of 46 people. Data was analyzed by using Mann-Whitney test. Results: Distant metastasis of Breast cancer was more common in age group of 40-60 years (65,21%) and 86,96% had shown a lymphatic metastasis. The mean of CA 15-3 serum was higher in the group with distant metastasis 385,0439 U/mL compared to group without distant metastasis. Distant metastasis was more common in single state metastasis (69,6%) with the mean 472,24 U/mL. Common targeting organ of the distant metastasis was lung (69,9%). The highest mean of CA 15-3 serum was in pleura 557,2 U/mL. Conclusion: There was a statistically significant relationship between the mean of CA 15-3 serum with metastasis breast cancer (p=0.000).
