Plastic Deformation of Metal Tubes Subjected to Lateral Blast Loads

Abstract: When subjected to the dynamic load, the behavior of the structures is complex and makes it difficult to describe the process of the deformation. In the paper, an analytical model is presented to analyze the plastic deformation of the steel circular tubes. The aim of the research is to calculate the deflection and the deformation angle of the tubes. A series of assumptions are made to achieve the objective. During the research, we build a mathematical model for simply supported thin-walled metal tubes with fini… Show more

“…In order to verify the numerical calculation method based on multiphase coupling, the numerical simulation analysis of the pipeline explosion experiment in Ref. [ 23 ] is carried out, where the pipeline material in is Q235, the pipeline length is 100 cm, the outer diameter is 10 cm, and the shell thickness is 0.275 cm. The experimental device is shown in Fig.…”

“…e results show that the existence of water provides a "foundation" pressure for deformation resistance. Song et al [3] built a mathematical model to analyse the deflection and the deformation angle of the steel circular tubes subjected to lateral blast loads. e calculation results agree well with experiment observations when the deformation is relatively small.…”
