Objectives: This study was conducted to assess and compare the effect of platelets rich fibrin (PRF) versus mineralized plasmatic matrix (MPM) as bone regenerative materials during immediate implant placement. Material and Methods: A total of 10 patients with 12 implants have been included in this study, patients were divided into 2 groups. Group I received Mineralized Plasmatic Matrix (MPM), and group II received Platelets Rich Fibrin (PRF) as bone regenerative materials for immediate implant placement. The treatment outcome was evaluated clinically and radiographically at 3 and 6 months of implant placement. Also bone height and bone density were measured radiographically preoperatively, immediate post operatively, at 3 and 6 months postoperatively and statistically analysed. Results: Statistical analysis showed that bone density increased significantly (p≤0.05) at 3, and 6 months postoperatively in both groups. By comparing the two groups, Group I had statistically significant (p≤0.05) higher bone density scores than Group II at all of the follow up intervals. Regarding the bone height, there was no statistically significant difference (P ≥ 0.05) between the two groups at all of the follow up intervals except that group I showed a statistically significant (P ≥ 0.05) higher mesial bone height level at 3and 6 months postoperatively accompanied by a statistically significant (P ≥ 0.05) higher distal bone level as well at 6 months postoperatively than that of group II. Conclusion: The use of MPM was more superior to PRF as bone regenerative material for immediate implant placement regarding bone height and bone density.

A reabilitação imediata com implantes está imersa em diversas nuances que se torna um verdadeiro desafio clínico ao cirurgião-dentista, exigindo soluções simplificadas. O Plasma Rico em Fibrina (PRF) emerge como uma técnica avançada de enxerto que oferece ao paciente uma cicatrização mais célere e um pós-operatório melhor, uma alternativa natural e satisfatória, com resultados favoráveis e redução de riscos. O objetivo desse estudo é analisar, a partir de uma revisão de literatura, o uso do PRF com implante imediato. Como metodologia, buscou-se estudos da base de dados cientificos como Scielo, Lilacs e Medline, datados de 2014 a 2019. Foram utilizados os termos: Plasma Rico em Fibrina, Odontologia e Implantes dentários. O estudo do funcionamento dos implantes, bem como suas opções de instalação nos pacientes, mostra-se necessário visando os meios atuais que são facilitadores da reabilitação oral, a exemplo do uso do Plasma Rico em Fibrina como aliado na perda óssea.

Background: Platelet-rich fibrin is a second generation platelet concentrate enhances tissue healing and is in predominant use as a barrier membrane in periodontal regeneration. However, a normal PRF membrane has rapid degradability (1-2 weeks). Myristica fragrans (nutmeg) has been found to have antiprotease property. It was hypothesized if this property helps in inhibiting degradation of PRF. Aim: To assess whether nutmeg has any effect in inhibitingdegradability of PRF membrane and to compare the degradability of PRF at different concentrations (200mg, 100mg, 50mg) of ethanolic and crude extracts of nutmeg. Materials and Methodology: PRF was procured from 30 ml blood from 5 different donors were cut to equal sizes into 35 pieces. They were measured at baseline and dropped in 7 sets of ependorphs containing PBS, PBS containing 200 mg, 100mg and 50 mg crude extract of nutmeg, PBS containing 200 mg, 100mg and 50 mg ethanolic extract of nutmeg. After 1 week the PRF were retrieved and measured. The percentage of remaining PRF was calculated and data analysed. Result: It was found that there was a difference in percentages of remaining PRF between all the groups when compared to the control group, out of which, crude extract of nutmeg 200 mg group alone had a significantly lesser % of remaining PRF than the control. All ethanolic extract groups had a significantly greater % of remaining PRF when compared to that of the control. Conclusion: Nutmeg is effective in inhibiting the degradation of PRF membrane.
