Platinum(II) Drug-Loaded Gold Nanoshells for Chemo-Photothermal Therapy in Colorectal Cancer

Abstract: In the present study, we utilize a poly[2-(N,N-dimethylamino)ethyl methacrylate]-poly(ε-caprolactone) (PDMA-PCL) micellar template-based gold nanoshell as a nanocarrier of a platinum-based chemotherapeutic drug, dichloro(1,2-diaminocyclohexane)platinum(II) (DACHPt). The gold nanoshells not only function as a drug delivery platform but also provide a remarkable photothermal effect, resulting in synergistically combined chemo-photothermal therapy. With the positively charged outstretched hydrophilic PDMA s… Show more

“…Noble metal-based nanomaterials are one of the most explored nanomaterials for PTT [57][58][59], and are prepared from Au, Ag, Pt, and Pd [60,61]. The PTT of noble-metal nanomaterials is based on their optical property of localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR), which is a collective oscillation of lightinduced free electrons.…”

“…Subsequently, oligonucleotide‐modified GNRs, 60 polypeptide‐wrapped GNRs, 61 triangular and multicore Au@polymer nanoparticles, 62 tripeptide‐tethered hollow gold nanoparticles, 63 and gold nanoshells 64 are also reported to deliver platinum drugs to achieve combinatorial therapy. A multifunctional chemothermal therapy is reported by Zhang and coauthors 65 .…”
