Plato asserts that people need each other for their basic needs. According to Plato, these needs bring people together and thus, a social division of labor occurs. Putting forward a society design based on the division of labor, Plato classifies human nature as gold, silver, and iron/bronze and, builds the ideal society and state order, which he designed for people to be happy, on class distinction. Indeed, according to Plato, due to class distinction, justice is provided in that society and state when everyone does the work they are familiar with and are in accordance with their nature. Plato, who proposes an ideal management system regarding who the ruler and the ruled will be, taking into account the class distinction, in his dialogue The Republic, also mentions the forms of government in his other dialogues on political philosophy. In this study, in which Plato’s thoughts in the practical field of philosophy, especially in political philosophy, are discussed, an evaluation has been tried to made on Plato’s understanding of class division and regimes in his philosophy of state by taking into account his works, primarily The Republic (Politeia), The Statesman (Politikos) and Laws (Nomoi).
