PleuramesotheliomTeil I: Geschichte, Epidemiologie, Klinik (Erscheinungsbild, Diagnostik)

Abstract: Between first symptoms of disease and diagnosis of mesothelioma often more than 6 months pass as clinical symptoms are rarely typical. Detection of early stages by invasive procedures and imaging is often very difficult. Histopathological distinction between adenocarcinoma and mesothelioma requires experienced pathologists. This implies that management of mesothelioma should only be performed in multidisciplinary cooperation in specialized centers.

“…Patients took part in an inpatient, complex pulmonary rehabilitation program with chest wallstretching, controlled breathing techniques and training, as well as personalized exercise training by cycling and treadmill 2-3 times for 20-30 min a day for 4 weeks. Six-minute walking distance (6MWD) [13], lung function [14], chest wall expansion (CWE) [15], grip strength [16], maximal inspiratory pressure (MIP) [17] and breath holding time (BHT) [18] were measured at the start and at the end of the rehabilitation program. The quality of life and dyspnea were evaluated by CAT [19] and mMRC [20].…”
