A new foil handling technique using activation foil cassettes was developed for the measurement of lattice parameters in a Pu02-U01 fuel rod.The cassette is constituted of activation foils enveloped in thin (0.02mm) A1 foil which prevent Pu contamination and also work as fission-product-catcher foils, without causing any additional perturbation of the measuring medium. The experimental accuracy is found to be almost the same as for UOz fuel rods. The technique is adapted to application in a wide survey of lattice parameters for Pu fueled reactors.
