ÖZAmaç: Bu çalışmada parsiyel turbinektominin izole, semptomatik iki taraflı konka bülloza hastalarının koku fonksiyonlarına etkisi Sniffin' Sticks koku testi kullanılarak araştırıldı. Hastalar ve Yöntemler: Eylül 2012 -Şubat 2013 tarihleri arasında İstanbul Şişli Etfal Eğitim ve Araştırma HastanesiKulak Burun Boğaz ve Baş Boyun Cerrahisi Kliniği'nde izole, semptomatik iki taraf lı konka bülloza nedeniyle 15 hastaya (3 erkek, 12 kadın ort. yaş 30.0±8.1 yıl; dağılım 18-46 yıl) iki taraf lı parsiyel (lateral) turbinektomi ameliyatı uygulandı. Hastalara ameliyat öncesi ve ameliyat sonrası ikinci ayda üç aşamalı Sniffin' Sticks koku testi uygulandı. Koku alma eşik değeri, diskriminasyon değeri, identifikasyon değeri ve bu üç değerin toplamı (total skor) belirlenerek her bir hastanın ameliyat öncesi ve sonrası değerleri kendi arasında karşılaştırıldı. Ayrıca hastalardan koku alma hislerini azalmış, normal veya artmış olarak ameliyat öncesi ve ameliyat sonrası ikinci ayda derecelendirmeleri istendi. Bütün değerler ameliyat öncesi ve sonrası olarak kendi arasında karşılaştırıldı. Bulgular: Koku testi parametrelerinin ortalama puanları ameliyat sonrasında arttı. Ortalama eşik ve ortalama identifikasyon değer-leri yükselmesine rağmen fark istatistiksel olarak anlamlı değildi (sırasıyla, p=0.238 ve p=0.413). Tedavi sonrası ortalama diskriminasyon değeri ve ortalama total skor anlamlı şekilde yükseldi (sırasıyla p=0.005 ve p=0.007). Ameliyat öncesine kıyasla ameliyat sonrası koku alma hissinde olumlu değişim gözlendi.Sonuç: Semptomatik konka bülloza olgularında iki taraflı parsiyel turbinektominin hastaların koku fonksiyonlarına olumlu etki yaptığı gösterilmiş olup bu alanda daha geniş hasta popülasyonlu ve daha uzun hasta takip süreli çalışmaların yapılmasını tavsiye etmekteyiz.Anahtar sözcükler: Konka bülloza; parsiyel turbinektomi; koku fonksiyonu; Sniffin' Sticks. ABSTR ACTObjectives: This study aims to evaluate the effect of partial turbinectomy on the olfactory function of isolated, symptomatic bilateral concha bullosa patients by using Sniffin' Sticks test. Patients and Methods:A total of 15 patients (3 males, 12 females; mean age 30.0±8.1 years; range 18 to 46 years) were performed bilateral partial (lateral) turbinectomy due to isolated, symptomatic bilateral concha bullosa at the Department of Ear Nose Throat and Head Neck Surgery in Şişli Etfal Training and Research Hospital, Istanbul between September 2012 and February 2013. A three-step Sniffin' Sticks test was performed before the operation and two months after the operation. The preoperative and postoperative values of odor detection threshold, discrimination value, identification value and the sum of these three values (total score) were determined and the preoperative and postoperative values of each patient were compared amongst themselves.
