“…In our study, the overall prevalence of endoparasites in goats from four farms was 100% and might represent a factor that affects body condition score. Although in our study we did not find that BCS and endoparasites correlated, according to many authors (28)(29)(30)(31)(32)(33), endoparasites cause several subclinical effects such as hyperproteinemia, growth depression, reduction in milk yield, loss of appetite, and digestive inefficiency. Parasite infection negatively affects hosts by consuming host resources and directly damaging host tissues or indirectly by stimulating costly immune responses and by changing host movement, foraging, or social behaviors (34)(35)(36).…”

“…ini berbahaya bagi perkembangan tubuh ternak dalam jangka waktu yang lama dan dapat berdampak pada penurunan bobot badan. Hal ini sesuai dengan penelitian yang dilakukan oleh Thlama et al (2016) bahwa infestasi protozoa secara signifikan mempengaruhi skor kondisi tubuh pada kambing. Selain kondisi fisik yang terlihat, umur mempengaruhi tingkat infestasi pada kambing.…”

“…Belo Sub Division expereinces about eight months of rainy season from mid March to mid November and about four months of dry season from mid November to mid March. Since the study was conducted from July to October towards the end of the rainy season, higher parasitic infections might be related to the availability of browse and a longer browsing time in the warm-rainy season by the host, sufficient moisture and optimum temperature. These create favorable conditions allowing for the larval development, oocyst sporulation and survival of the infective larvae stage [23]. The high prevalence in this study could also be attributed to illiteracy on the side of the goat keepers and their ignorance or avoidance tendency of preventive measures [24].…”

“…For example, effective pasture management, applied knowledge about host-parasite interactions and interrelations building the base for low pasture infection rates for grazing animals, stocking rate reduction and regular intensive monitoring of animal condition that can help optimize animal health status and anthelmintic treatments [25]. The overall higher prevalence of GI parasitic infections in this study area could also be attributed to lower immunity of hosts as a result of malnutrition [23,24]. Among other factors that may have further contributed to these discrepancies observed are host breeds and different husbandry practices.…”
