Polarization insensitive penta‐bandstop frequency selective surface for closely placed bands

Abstract: This article reports on a single layer penta-bandstop frequency selective surface (FSS) for multiband shielding applications. The proposed unit cell incorporates five independent resonant elements that are realized on a single-sided FR4 substrate to suppress GSM-0.9 GHz, GPS-1.5 GHz, GSM-1.8 GHz, Wi-Max-3.5 GHz, and Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN)-5.7 GHz frequency bands. The proposed single layer unit cell has compact lattice periodicity of order 0.11 λ o × 0.11 λ o. The design is not only polarization-ins… Show more

“…Two metal structures were found on one side of the dielectric, whereas three were found on the other. Recently, a five stopband FSS was developed by integrating different loop geometries in the unit cell, such as circles and squares, as reported in [23]. In [24] presents a penta-bandpass FSS that utilizes slot resonators arranged in concentric rings.…”

“…In recent years, more and more attention has been paid to the study of frequency selective surface (FSS), which are spatial filters that filter electromagnetic waves in undesired frequency bands, transmitting or reflecting specific bands of electromagnetic waves according to different needs. 1,2 To cope with the demand for antiinterference, it is necessary to improve the sharp roll-off characteristics of FSS. Researchers have conducted numerous studies to achieve this goal.…”

“…Later, a two-layer penta-bandstop FSS using five metallic structures, -two at one side of the dielectric and three on its other side-, was reported in [29]. More recently, a five stopband FSS, described in [30], is obtained by means of combining different loop geometries such as circles and squares in the unit cell.…”
