Polarization modulation techniques for intensity modulated links

Abstract: The use of a polarization modulator for intensity modulation is detailed. Issues encountered are discussed such as the state of polarization drift over time for various fiber lengths and the nonlinear effects of polarization dependent loss on link fidelity.
