Abstract:Photoluminescence spectra of an isolated GaAs quantum dot within an AlGaAs quantum wire are studied. The examination of behavior of spectra in a magnetic field provided an opportunity to estimate the exciton binding energy in the quantum dot, which turned out to be 10 times higher than the bulk exciton binding energy in GaAs. It is demonstrated that the signal of exciton photoluminescence from the quantum dot emitted along the nanowire axis is linearly polarized. At the same time, the photoluminescence signal … Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
