Polarized shear waves in functionally graded piezoelectric material layer sandwiched between corrugated piezomagnetic layer and elastic substrate

Abstract: This article investigates the propagation behaviour of horizontally polarized shear waves in a layered composite structure. In the considered model, a functionally graded piezoelectric material layer is sandwiched between corrugated piezomagnetic layer and elastic substrate. Method of separation of variables is used to obtain the displacement components in all three mediums. Dispersion relation has been established in the determinant form for the two cases, magneto-electrically open case and magneto-electrical… Show more

“…Piezoelectric and piezomagnetic composites are elastic-electric-magnetic coupling materials, which can accomplish the transformation among the mechanical, electrical and magnetical energies. As a result, researches have been devoted to the piezoelectric and piezoelectric/piezomagnetic composites on vibration [17,18], wave propagation [19,20], and fracture [21,22]. Investigations improved that the composites composed of piezoelectric and piezomagnetic layers could display more superior magnetoelectric coupling effect than single multiferroic materials at room temperature [23,24].…”

“…Love-type waves in an FGPEM sandwiched between an initially stressed layer and an elastic substrate were investigated by Saroj et al [18]. Sahu et al [19] explored polarized shear waves in an FGPEM layer sandwiched between a corrugated piezomagnetic layer and an elastic substrate. Gupta and Bhengra [20] applied the Wentzel-Kramers-Brillouin method to study surface wave vibrations in an FGM layered structure.…”
