The government has launched a policy to ensure the sovereign availability of national rice. One breakthrough is the rice cropping pattern with a cropping index (IP) of 400. It means rice fields are used for planting and harvesting four times a year. This cropping pattern can be made in several potential areas, including the Grompol Hilir Watershed, Masaran District, Sragen Regency. This study aims to (1) determine the pattern of rice planting- and (2) analyze the comparative income of rice farming. Respondents in this study were obtained by purposive sampling in four villages in the Grompol Hilir watershed area. In-depth interview was used to know the rice cropping pattern, and income analysis was used to see the farmer’s income. The results showed that 46 harvested rice 3 times and 14 farmers 4 times a year. The results also show that in one growing season, the average income of IP300 farmers is Rp14,148,195, where this value is higher than farmers who apply IP400, which is Rp9,036,693. Therefore, it can be concluded that IP400 can be implemented with more support from the government regarding facilities and infrastructure.
