Pollen morphology of selected species of tribes Ingeae and Mimoseae (Mimosoideae—Leguminosae) occurring in the Atlantic Forest of the state of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Abstract: The present work investigates the pollen of 14 taxa of the subfamily Mimosoideae (Leguminosae) occurring in the Atlantic Forest of the state of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The objective was to characterize the pollen grains of representatives of the subfamily Mimosoideae and to offer the knowledge for the taxonomy. Pollen grains were acetolyzed, measured, described and illustrated using light microscopy. Surface and aperture detail of non-acetolyzed pollen grains were observed and electromicrographed using scannin… Show more

“…Pollen morphological data for taxa within the Stryphnodendron clade and outgroups were collected from herbarium specimens (CEN, ESA, and SPSC; acronyms following Thiers, [continuously updated]) and literature sources (Braga et al, 2012;Buril et al, 2010;Caccavari, 2002;de Freitas Cruz et al, 2018;El Ghazali et al, 1997;Flores-Cruz et al, 2006;Irian et al, 2013;Jumah, 1991;Kenrick and Knox, 1982;Lima et al, 2008;Luz et al, 2013;Medina-Acosta et al, 2019;Ribeiro et al, 2018;Santos-Silva et al, 2013;Barth and Yoneshigue, 1966;Barth, 1973Barth, , 1974Bauermann et al, 2009). We also collected data from Guinet and Caccavari (1992), who clustered species together in 'pollen types' according to their pollen traits.…”
