Pollen Typhae-Based Magnetic-Powered Microrobots toward Acute Gastric Bleeding Treatment

Abstract: Traditional Chinese herbal medicine (TCHM) is the naturally available pharmaceutical with millennia of evolution from ancient China, capable of a superior therapeutic index and minimized unwanted effects on the human body. This work presents a therapeutic microrobotic platform based on pollen typhae (PT), a typical type of TCHM, fabricated by coating porous PT microspheres with Fe 3 O 4 nanoparticles (PT robots) via electrostatic adsorption. The PT robots exhibit effective and controllable motion in various bi… Show more

“…Although micro/nanorobots have been explored to treat diabetes, [187] cardiovascular diseases, [188][189][190] and infected diseases in various parts of the body (e.g., respiratory system, gastrointestinal tract); [30,33,191] assist in reproduction [50] and brain vasculature; [192] and even kill tumors, [193] the development of micro/nanorobots, including microgrippers, is still in its infancy, and there is a long way to go before clinical application. Current research on microgrippers is still in the proof-of-concept stage.…”

“…CTP, as a representative of carbonized CHMs, is obtained by stir‐frying (Gao, Lan et al, 2021). CTP possesses a significant hemostatic effect and is therefore clinically applied as a remedy for hemorrhage syndromes, including hematemesis, epistaxis, hemoptysis, hematochezia, and uterine bleeding (Ohkura et al, 2011; Yang, Tang, et al, 2022). CTP is listed in the Chinese Pharmacopoeia (2020), edition, as well as in the Standards of Chinese Herbal Medicines published by various provinces of China.…”
