Poly(Acrylamide-Co-Acrylic Acid)-Zinc Acetate Polymer Electrolytes: Studies Based on Structural and Morphology and Electrical Spectroscopy

Abstract: Solid polymer electrolytes (SPEs) of polyacrylamide-co-acrylic acid (PAA) as the polymer host and zinc acetate (ZnA) as an ionic dopant were prepared using a single solvent by the solution casting technique. The amorphous and crystalline structures of film were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD). The surface morphology of samples was examined by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The composition and complex formation of films were characterized by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. The condu… Show more

“…Therefore, relaxation time decreases with increase of temperature which results in an increase in the ionic conductivity. The dielectric loss at lower frequencies characterized by high values of tan δ is due to the contribution of both ion jump and conduction or ion migration loss in addition to the polarization loss [49,50]. The loss tangent shows a maximum at low frequency end in the high temperature region because of thermally generated defects in the sample [51].…”

“…21,24,25 Poly(acrylamide- co -acrylic acid) (PAAm-PAA) is a copolymer consisting of PAM and PAA. 26,27 PAAm-PAA has both carbonyl and carboxyl groups which allow it to be water soluble, good gelatinizing, superabsorbent, and easily coordinate to alkali metal cations. 7,9,19,20 Besides, PAM could also act as a binder 26,27 to reinforce the mechanical strength of PAA.…”
