Polyacrylamide Gel Electrophoresis: A Versatile Tool for the Separation of Nanoclusters

Abstract: Atomically precise nanoclusters comprising 1–100 atoms have emerged as a new class of nanomaterials with intriguing size-dependent physicochemical properties. The significant changes in the properties of nanoclusters were observed in tailoring the number of metal atoms and ligands that determines their functions and applicability. Since 1990, thiolated gold nanoclusters have been studied. The separation of monodispersed clusters was crucial and time-consuming. To address these shortcomings, several separation … Show more

“…AFM imaging could be challenging method for unexperienced researchers due to specic surface chemistry required for reliable deposition of AgNC@DNA. 36 Other alternative methods to assess heterogeneity of the samples might be considered, such as reversedphase high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), 37 gel electrophoresis, 38 or Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM). 39 2.6 Energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) analysis AgNC@hpC 12 solutions prepared as described above were diluted to 50 mM aer ltration.…”

“…The technique uses two internal standards to calculate the relative mobility values and discriminate the analytes in the specimens. The negative feedback of rHuEPO administration can be detected as the absence of HuEPO bands on the gel, and during washout period, an intense rHuEPO band evolved in a glycoform smear above the HuEPO band [19].…”

“…Among the most studied hydrogels are those formed by different polyacrylamides such as poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAM) and polyacrylamide (PAAM). [14][15][16][17] Polyacrylamide gels can be easily fabricated into macroscopic shapes. Polymerization of an acrylamide monomer together with an appropriate cross-linker in a concentrated aqueous solution produces a solid gel that lls the mold or copies the shape of the solution container.…”
