Polydimethylsiloxane/postmodified MIL‐53 composite layer coated on asymmetric hollow fiber membrane for improving gas separation performance

Abstract: Composite layer containing postmodified MIL‐53 (P‐MIL‐53) was exploited to be coated on as‐fabricated asymmetric hollow fiber membrane for improving gas separation performance. The morphology and pore size distribution of P‐MIL‐53 particles were characterized by SEM and N2 adsorption isotherm. The EDX mapping and FTIR spectra were performed to confirm the presence of P‐MIL‐53 deposited on the outer surface of hollow fiber membranes. The results of pure gas permeation measurement indicated that incorporation of… Show more

“…SEM images supported this observation. Zhu et al [ 114 ] investigated the performance of thin film hollow fiber mixed matrix membranes filled with post-modified MIL-53 (P-MIL-53). Asymmetric hollow fibers (Ultem) coated were used as support and PDMS containing different MIL-53 content was used as selective layer.…”

“…According to literature, it is known that the fabrication of defect‐free HKUST‐1 and ZIFs‐based HFMMMs still remains challenging, mainly attributed to the incompatibility between polymer and fillers (HKUST‐1 and ZIFs) . Thus, researchers focused on the MIL series of MOFs for fabrication of HFMMMs , . MIL series exhibit attractive characteristics with high pore volumes, large surface areas, and high thermal and chemical stability .…”

“…In a batch process, fibers or even complete modules are sealed at the ends and are dipped into the coating solution. For continuous fiber coatings the fibers run over a roll, which is installed in the dip coating bath .…”
