Polyethylene Glycol/Carbon Black Shape-Stable Phase Change Composites for Peak Load Regulating of Electric Power System and Corresponding Thermal Energy Storage

Abstract: In this work, a unique electrically conductive polyethylene glycol (PEG)/carbon black (CB) shape-stable phase change composite (SSPCC) for peak load regulating of electric power system was prepared via a vacuum impregnation approach. Scanning electron microscope (SEM), differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) were used to study the micro morphology, crystallization behavior, crystallization structure and thermal properties. Leakage test and DSC results showed that when the PEG conten… Show more

“…Among them, the utilization of porous materials like carbon nanotubes (CNTs), carbon black (CB), graphite, diatomite, and perlite to prepare FSPCMs is one of the most important methods. [19][20][21][22][23] The two major aims of FSPCMs are to achieve a high enthalpy value at a certain T pc and a considerable enthalpy value in a wide T pc range relative to a certain T pc . There are few related studies for the latter at present, but a wide T pc range is of great significance for practical application.…”

“…16,17 Rapid monomer transport is also facilitated as supercritical CO 2 exhibits the density of a liquid and the diffusivity of a gas. 18 Therefore, one can imagine exploiting these transport properties to create many unique materials, including multi-phase materials [19][20][21][22] as well as composites containing additives. [23][24][25][26][27] Additionally, in contrast to many organic solvents, supercritical CO 2 is inexpensive, nontoxic, non-flammable, and environmentally benign when fully recovered in processing.…”
