Abstract:Synthetic biodegradable aliphatic polyester (BAP) and its blends with polyepichlorohydrin (PECH) were processed with organophilic montmorillonite (OMMT) to make polymer/organoclay nanocomposites via a solvent casting method. Interlayer spacings of each system, measured by X-ray diffraction analysis, suggested that BAP had better affinity to clay than PECH in a competitive intercalation mechanism. The internal structures were visualized using transmission electron microscopy and were discussed in conjunction wi… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
