“…These polymerizations can be successfully initiated by a number of species, including well-defined Shrock-type metal alkylidene complexes 7 as well as ill-defined transition metal-based initiation systems such as tungsten hexachloride/tetraphenyl tin (WCl 6 /Ph 4 Sn). , In work relevant to this communication, surface initiated metathesis polymerization (SIMP) catalyzed by well-defined transition metal complexes has been accomplished with the advantage of shorter reaction times and milder reaction conditions . In addition to the work by Masuda and co-workers, substituted polyacetylenes such as poly(phenylacetylene) (PPA) have also been examined by Percec and co-workers. as well as by Tang and Lam. In these studies, several series of disubstituted polyacetylene derivatives have been synthesized using tungsten-catalyzed polymerization. The synthesized polymers were observed to be stable in air and soluble in common organic solvents.…”
