Polymorbidity in geriatric practice

Abstract: The definition of the concept of polymorbidity reveals the lack of specificity in the definitions of comorbidity and polymorbidity and, as a result, confusion in the use of these terms. Most authors are unanimous in their opinion that the «core» of polymorbidity is the presence of more than one disease in a patient. These coexisting diseases may or may not be pathogenetically related. Regardless of this, the degree of polymorbidity always affects the prognosis and quality of life.
