Polyole auf Basis fettchemischer Rohstoffe

Abstract: Carefully selected fatty acids allow esters to be composed which, additionally, have excellent polymerization stabdity (Table 9). Polymerization and in the final resort, carbonization are undesirable reactions occurring when unsaturated oils are exposed to air and heat. Viscosity increases until finally rubber-like films are built up which tend to stick very tightly to solid surfaces and which cannot be removed by any solvent. Polymerization-stable substances are of outstanding importance in the composition of… Show more

“…vicinal hydroxyethers, resemble the structure of castor oil and, therefore, could find similar applications, e.g. in lubricants [7], polyurethane foams and casting resins [8]. The application as lubricant was the motivation for this investigation, because the hydroxy-ethers have the additional advantage that the number of unsaturated groups in the oil is diminished and, therefore, the oxidation stability should be improved [9].…”

“…Ring epoxy group and subsequent derivatisation of the epoxy carbons can improve the oxidative and low-temperature stability of the molecule. Acidcatalysed ring opening of epoxidised oils with low-molecular-weight monoor polyfunctional acids or alcohols leads to low-molecular-weight liquid epoxy polyol esters or ethers [65,240]. Depending on the reaction conditions either polyols with high OH-functionality (complete reaction) or epoxy polyol esters with remaining epoxy groups (partial conversion) are obtained.…”

“…Oleochemical polyols have a relatively low viscosity. Polyols are widely used in the production of foams, dispersants and fl uid polyurethane resins [240].…”

“…Such an example is that castor oil reacts with polyfunctional isocyanates to produce polyurethanes [16][17][18] . Castor oil also undergoes many familiar organic reactions to form useful derivatives.…”
