Polytraumatism and solid organ bleeding syndrome: The role of imaging

Abstract: In multiple injuries, features of bleeding from solid organs mostly involve the liver, spleen and kidneys and may be treated by embolization. The indications and techniques for embolization vary between organs and depend on the pathophysiology of the injuries, type of vascularization (anastomotic or terminal) and type of embolization (curative or preventative). Interventional radiologists should have a full understanding of these indications and techniques and management algorithms should be produced within ea… Show more

“… 3 (3) Emergent intervention for embolization within vessels can well control active bleeding in multiple injury patients with less complications and high rescuing rate; during operation, attention should be given to select the appropriate size catheter so as to avoid too large injection pressure and thus increase bleeding. 9 Operation should be gently performed to avoid aggravating vascular endothelial thrombosis. (4) EICU help monitor critically ill patients during the perioperative period, and early finding and treating complications can reduce postoperative mortality and morbidity, and improve the success rate of multiple critical injury.…”

“…Spesifik, direkt bulgular, pankreasta boyut artışı, laserasyon (fokal lineer kontrast tutmayan alan), inhomojen kontrast tutulumu, fragmantasyon ve hematom olarak görülebilir. İndirekt, nonspesifik bulgular, peripankreatik yağ planlarında silinme, laserasyonla ilişkili peripankreatik sıvı, splenik ven ve pankreas arasında sıvı, hemoraji, sol anterior pararenal fasiyada kalınlaşma, komşu yapılarda eşlik eden yaralanmalar olarak sayılabilir [1,4,[18][19][20][21][22].…”
