“…In long-term studies of Sagami Bay, the population densities of C. furca compared to those of C. fusus were relatively higher. However, in daily monitoring from April to July 2003 (Baek et al, 2008c), although the concentrations of the two Ceratium species were characterized by a high day-to-day variability, the population densities of C. fusus were always higher than those of C. furca. Population growth of C. fusus was stimulated by relatively low salinity and nutrient loading from terrestrial environments after heavy rainfall.…”
