Abstract:Based on certain defined assumptions a general model for tetraploid populations with heterosomes is presented. With respect to their heterosomes, an equilibrium is attained in all populations, so that the frequencies of genotypes are dependent on the distribution of sexes in relation to the genotypes (z) and the degree of heterosomy (h). As the equilibrium is reached in only a few generations, natural populations ought to be in a balanced state.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
