“…Porokeratosis pty-chotropica usually presents as symmetric, butterfly-shaped, verrucous plaques in the gluteal and perianal regions, and rarely affects the genitals, with only a few cases on the penis and scrotum. 2,3 Although porokeratosis ptychotropica can be verrucous, classic cases usually exhibit an only slightly verrucous appearance, which is quite different from the hypertrophic and keratotic plaques with typical verrucous hyperplasia in our case. More importantly, verrucous plaques in the present case initially appeared on the face, and then spread to the neck, lower extremities and genitogluteal region.…”

“…Treatment resistance and lesions with a long evolution represent a risk factor for developing squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). 1,2 A 68-year-old male patient presented with erythematous plaques on the gluteal region evolving for 12 years with a gradual increase in size, despite different topical treatments that were mainly with corticosteroids (Figure 1a). Family history was not relevant and personal history revealed stage II arterial hypertension treated with beta-blockers.…”

In a review of 22 patients, the main regions affected were the buttocks (36.36%), genitogluteal region (31.82%) and buttocks with involvement of the extremities (22.7%).…”
