Abstract:Cup‐shaped lipoprotein structures at the cell plasma membrane called 'porosomes' are involved in the regulated fractional release of intravesicular contents from cells during secretion. Porosomes enable secretion from cells with exquisite precision, involving membrane fusion and secretory vesicle volume regulation. Porosomes from a number of secretory cells including neurons have been isolated, their composition determined, and they have been functionally reconstituted it in artificial lipid membrane. The dyna… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
