Positive Deviance

Abstract: The substantive area of deviance has focused on the negative and consequently positive deviance is an important and not yet fully tapped concept. Specifically, positive deviance suggests overconforming behavior that has been positively evaluated. While positive deviance has been marginalized, theoretical explanations are beginning to emerge. Furthermore, some recent studies have provided empirical examination of positive deviants.
