Botulinum toxin is a protein that the anaerobic bacterium Clostridium botulinum produces and can be applied for various purposes, from aesthetics to rehabilitation procedures, such as in cases of rehabilitation in patients who have facial paralysis. The objective of this work is to describe how facial paralysis is treated with botulinum toxin, its contraindications, side effects, as well as its benefits. The aim is also to describe how the procedure is capable of providing patients with facial paralysis with quality of life by recovering facial asymmetry. This is basic research with a qualitative approach. As for the procedure, bibliographic research was used. It is concluded that rehabilitation using botulinum toxin is effective and safe, being one of the choices to improve facial asymmetry.
