“…It has been found experimentally that for distinct resolution of lutein derivatives spots (Lu) and that of thiophenes (Th) on a silica TLC-plates the eluent may be composed of n-hexane with small additions of polar solvent -acetone (10 : 0.1÷0.3 vol./vol. ), the sports of Lu may be detected due to yellow color while spots of Th are known to have a bluish fluorescence under UV-excitation (354 nm) [11].
