Abstract: Ammonia plays a crucial role in the pathogenesis of hepatic encephalopathy. Ammonia is also involved in many other pathological conditions seen in cirrhosis, such as sarcopenia, liver fibrosis, hepatocellular injury, immune dysfunction, and hyperammonemia.
