“…In man, cattle, cats and dogs, associations between viruses or virus-like particles and LL have been documented (Jarrett et al 1964;Burney et al 1980;Tomley et al 1983;Perk et al 1992;Matutes 2002). Virus-like particles similar to C-type RNA oncornoviruses have been identified within equine lymphoma cells using transmission electron microscopy (McKercher et al 1963;Tomlinson et al 1979). The apparent predominance of Tcell LL in animals vs. B-cell in man may suggest an alternate aetiology.…”
Characterisation of the clinical, pathological and immunological findings in 6 horses with LL has added to reports of this rare condition, characterised it in greater detail and therefore provides a starting point for further investigations.

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
