Possible Waste Heat Recovery in the Condenser of a Regenerative Steam Cycle

Abstract: The present work is concerned with a new steam cycle proposed as a modification to the normal regenerative steam cycle. A steam ejector and an extra feed water heater are incorporated into the latter cycle. The motive steam of the ejector is bled from the steam turbine. The ejector entrains a portion of the saturated steam exiting the turbine and entering the condenser. Both amounts of motive and entrained steam are raised in pressure and used as heating steam in the first feed water heater. The saturated wate… Show more

“…Previous studies regarding heat recovery can be classified into three major categories: those focused on heat exchangers [4][5][6][7][8], working fluids [9], and system performance [10][11]. The qualitative classification of waste heat is performed based on temperature levels of approximately 373 K and 523 K as reference values.…”

“…In the first step, it is necessary to assume the value of losses occurring in the individual construction elements of the injector. The values of these coefficients, presented in Table 4, were assumed based on the literature (Bukurov M. and Bikic S. and Prica M 2012;Goliński A. and Troskolański T.1979;Drożyński Z., and Konorski A.1980;Gryboś R. 1956;Hegazy A. 2007;Trela M. and Kwidzinski R. and Gluch J.…”

“…The heat of condensation absorbed by the ammonia is rejected in an air cooled condenser of a refrigeration machine into the surrounding atmosphere. This concept was tested and well documented [11][12][13][14][15][16][17], with the participation of several major equipment vendors (Baltimore Air Coil, the Trane Company, Curtiss-Wright, CB&I, and Union Carbide). In addition, the concept of using vapor compression refrigeration system (VCRS) combined with steam plant condenser was studied in detail in [14][15][16][17][18][19].…”
