Post-COVID-19 vaccine Guillain-Barré syndrome; first reported case from Qatar.

Abstract: Guillain-Barré syndrome is an immune-mediated neuropathy that was reported following multiple vaccines. We present the case of a gentleman who developed GBS 20 days after the second dose of COVID-19 vaccination. It is important to mention that more research is needed to establish an association between COVID-19 vaccine and GBS.

“…Indeed, there have been case reports of GBS attributed to COVID-19 vaccines (Johnson and Johnson, Pfizer, AstraZeneca) that have been published in United States, United Kingdom, Israel, Egypt, Austria and Qatar. Based on these published case reports, the onset from the time of vaccination to the development of neuropathic symptoms can be as short as one day to as much as twenty-one days [3][4][5][6][7][8][9]1]. To date, there have been no published case reports in the Philippines regarding COVID-19 vaccine and the development of neuropathic symptoms attributed to AIDP.…”

“…Studies describing the cases of Guillain Barré Syndrome following COVID-19 vaccination (Figure 1); in addition, the analysis did not include review articles or consensus statements. The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) were used to illustrate inclusions and exclusions [20]. We discovered 113 studies from PubMed, Google Scholar, Ovid, Web of Science, and Scopus based on our search parameters.…”
