The present paper addresses the issue of training programs in Australia concerned ivith alcohol-related problems. The main difficulties (both conceptual and practical) in this area are outlined and some solutions are proposed. Following an introduction, the paper proceeds by a series of questions as follows: 1) Why train? 2) Who trains? 3) Whom to train? 4) Ho~: to train? 5) Where to train? and 6) The future of training. Reference is made to the literature where appropriate.
