Post-intensive care screening: French translation and validation of the Healthy Aging Brain Care-Monitor, hybrid version

Abstract: Background The Healthy Aging Brain Care-Monitor (HABC-M) questionnaires (self-reported version and caregiver version) have been validated for post-intensive care syndrome (PICS) detection in patients surviving a stay in the intensive care unit (ICU). Their authors have also developed a hybrid version (HABC-M-HV) suited to the daily needs of their post-ICU follow-up clinic. The objectives of the present cross-sectional observational study were to translate the HABC-M-HV questionnaire into French… Show more

“…In previous versions, the construct of the HABC-M instrument was validated through CFA and convergent validity. 7 , 36 - 38 The Spanish version was determined through CFA and it was possible to obtain a model with fit indices between good and excellent, which corroborated the studies by Monahan et al ., on the scale’s adequate psychometric properties through CFA. 37 , 38 Nevertheless, although the RMSE in this study was > 0.05, a figure greater than those found in studies by Monahan et al ., the literature supported values < 0.08, even up to 0.1, in samples considered small ( n < 200), which is why it is possible to indicate that the model fitted reasonably the data observed.…”

“…In previous studies, phase and content validity were carried out through expert consensus, evaluating comprehension and clarity criteria in ICU staff. (36)(37)(38) This study established percentages between experts and survivors in separate samples and defined broader criteria for each of the stages. In previous versions, the construct of the HABC-M instrument was validated through CFA and convergent validity.…”
