Objectives: In this study, we examined the opinions of patients with severe sepsis concerning selectedelements of patient nursing care during hospital treatment. Methods: We studied 105 adult patients withsevere sepsis who received hospital treatment in Poland. Patients’ opinions were examined concerningthe engagement of nurses in the nursing process in the bio-psycho-social sphere and health educationfrom the aspect of self-care after discharge from hospital. Results: Patients with sepsis received thehighest level of support from nurses regarding making contacts with the family. Approximately one-thirdof respondents reported deficits in nursing care in the area of meeting the need for security, observationof vital signs, and assistance with feeding. A portion of respondents did not receive information aboutthe possibility of social support after discharge from hospital. Conclusions: It is necessary to improvenursing care of patients with sepsis in the bio-psycho-social sphere, regarding the observation of vitalsigns and health education, because approximately one-third of patients reported deficits in these areas.
