Post-translational modifications of microtubules

Abstract: There was an error published in J. Cell Sci. 123, 3447-3455.An incorrect version of Fig. 2 was published. The correct version, showing the severing of microtubules, is given below, together w its legend. We apologise for this mistake. CLIP-170Katanin, spastin There were errors published in J. Cell Sci. 123, 3447-3455.In Fig. 1, the arrows showing enzymatic reactions for MEC-17, HDAC6 and SIRT2 were pointing in the wrong direction. In addition, the C-terminal amino acid on the tail of -tubulin is Y (and not T)… Show more

“…MT stabilization correlates with increased microtubule posttranslational modifications, such as acetylation. 25,26 We found that vehicle-treated control cells demonstrated very little evidence of acetylation; however, both drugs induced extensive tubulin acetylation, and staining revealed morphologies in keeping with the bundling status (Fig. 2B).…”

“…In all eukaryotes studied to date, tubulin dimers can be altered by posttranslational modifications that differentially mark distinct microtubule subpopulations (33,34). Toxoplasma ␣1-tubulin can be modified by acetylation of lysine 40 and detyrosination (removal of the carboxy-terminal tyrosine 453) (22).…”
