Posterior Cruciate Ligament Repair With Suture Tape Augmentation

Abstract: The posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) acts as the primary restraint to posterior tibial translation of the knee. Injuries to the PCL are rare in isolation and more often are associated with multiligament injuries to the knee. Several PCL reconstruction and PCL repair techniques have been described in the literature, but no single technique has been shown to be the most superior. Internal bracing with suture tape augmentation encourages natural healing and allows early mobilization. This article describes, with… Show more

“…The technique utilized in this case series is most similar to the one described by Hopper et al [ 17 ]. DiFelice and Van der List recently described PCL repair with SA with a similar technique; however, they utilized suture anchors for proximal fixation instead of a button [ 16 ].…”

“…[25][26][27][28][29] On the contrary, only one additional augmented PCL repair was identified when reviewing the literature. 30 Hopper et al described a modification of our transosseous tunnel technique using FiberTape augmentation but retrieved the repair stitches proximally through one femoral drill hole.…”

“…Long-term results and further developments in this field are awaited. [51] Multiple ligament knee injury and knee dislocations Knee dislocation presents a unique challenge in terms of the management of soft-tissue envelope, repair, and/or reconstruction of ligaments, with their timing and technique. Although an individualized approach is recommended for these complex injuries, numerous studies have enabled a consensus and algorithm for management of these challenging injuries.…”
