Traditionally, Torch Ginger is commercially propagated via rhizomes. Micropropagation (M) is a viable alternative that ensures the genetic and phytosanitary quality of plantlets. However, in vitro cultivation conditions can lead to morphophysiological disorders resulting in death or difficulties in the acclimatization process and establishment of seedlings/plantlets in field conditions. Thus, Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi (AMF) has been used in some crops in order to mitigate the drastic effects during acclimatization and establishment of micropropagated plantlets in the field. In this sense, the objective of this study was to evaluate the implantation forms and efficacy of micropropagation and AMF inoculation on the establishment and production of Torch Ginger plants. The planting was carried in shading screens (50%) and different implantation forms were used; through rhizome (RIZ) and plantlets micropropagated with (M+AMF) and without (M-AMF) inoculation with arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi. Evaluations of growth, phenology and mycorrhizal colonization were carried out for one year. Micropropagation, independently of AMF inoculation, favoured a better development in height and number of tillers when compared to RIZ plants It is concluded that micropropagated plants of E. elatior showed earlier tiller emission, better development and initial establishment in the field. Additionally, the forms of implantation of E. elatior via rhizome and via micropropagation with or without AMF inoculation produce inflorescences with the minimum characteristics required for commercialization.

It had as objective to evaluate the effect of 8-hydroxyquinoline and chlorine, isolated and mixed in and conservation of the stem stick of the emperor. Twenty of the stem torch ginger (Etlingera elatior), variety Red Torch were harvested, transported, and immersed in standardized solutions containing biocides for 48 hours. The biocide used were 100 mg L -1 of chlorine; 250 mg L -1 of 8-(HQC); 500 mg L -1 of 8-(HQC) and 50 mg L -1 of chlorine + 50 mg L -1 of 8-(HQC), the control corresponded to water. The stems stay immersed in water for nine days at 20 ± 4 ºC. Every 24 hours, the water in the container was replaced. During nine days, some measurements were realized of pH of the water in which the stems stay immersed, in the same way, it was measured the consumption/loss volume of the water for each 24 hours in the containers. The stems were weighed and also samples were taken from the base of the stems and pear ligule determination of peroxidase activity. In general, the use of solutions of 8-(HQC), 250 and 500 mg L -1 , make easier the flux of water in the vases, measured by the consumption of water; provided lower peroxidase activity at the base, independent of the pH of the solution and maintained lower peroxidase activities in the ligule. Thus, with the results obtained, it demonstrated promise the use of 8-(HQC), in the highest concentrations tested (250 and 500 mg L -1 ) for quality maintenance of cut stems of Etlingera elatior, variety Red Torch.

The large ornamental potential of tropical flowers has stimulated the commercial cultivation of various species. Micropropagation is a viable alternate method of propagation, since it enables obtaining a higher number of seedlings with uniformity and pathogens free. The objective was to evaluate the in vitro multiplication rate of Etlingera elatior cv. Porcelana, using explants obtained from in vitro established seedling shoots, obtained from the 2nd subcultive. The explants were inoculated in MS culture medium containing different concentrations of BAP (0.0; 2.22; 4.44; 6.66; 8.88; and 11,10 μM), and the cultures maintained in a growth room with temperature 25.0 ± 2.0 °C under a photoperiod of 12 hours of light and light intensity of 30 μmol.m-2 s-1. The multiplication rate was monthly, according to the four subcultives, totaling 120 days. The experimental design was completely randomized, with four replications, analyzed in a factorial 4 x 6. The data were submitted to analysis of variance and regression. There were significant differences in subcultives and made for BAP concentrations used. For the first subcultive, the concentration of 2.22 μM of BAP afforded a rate of 4.06 sprouts per explant, already in the second and fourth subcultives, with the addition of cytokinin concentration was increased amount of sprouts reaching at a rate of 4.05 and 4.96 shoots/explant in the highest concentration of BAP. The results of the treatments evaluated indicate that the presence of BAP favored sprout emission. The concentrations of 2.22, 8.88 and 11.10 μM this cytokinin promoted the highest multiplication rates in the first, second and fourth subcultives, respectively.
