Abstract: Multiple lines of evidence have shown that lactate-mediated pH alterations in the brains of patients with neuropsychiatric diseases such as schizophrenia (SCZ), Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and autism may be attributed to mitochondrial dysfunction and changes in energy metabolism.
