Potential of dibenzo-18-crown-6-ether derivatives as a corrosion inhibitor on mild steel in HCl medium: electrochemical and computational approaches

Abstract: The extent of corrosion inhibition of macrocyclic crown ether compounds namely 2,14-bis(benzo[d]thiazol-2-yl)-6,7,9,10,17,18,20,21-octahydrodibenzo[b,k][1,4,7,10,13,16]hexaoxacy -clo octadecine [BOH] & 2-(6,7,9,10,17,18,20,21-octahydrodibenzo[b,k][1,4,7,10,13,16]hexa oxa cyclooctadecin-2-yl)benzo[d]thiazole [OHB] was investigated experimentally and theoretically on mild steel in 15%...

“…The diffraction peak intensities of the samples in the two groups are not much different, and no other diffraction peaks appear, indicating that the introduction of organic molecules did not destroy the crystal structure of perovskite. These results are in good agreement with the results reported in the previous work [17][18][19]. The XRD pattern is partially enlarged as shown in Figure 2b, the diffraction peak of cesium bromide appears at 20.9 • and the presence of cesium bromide is suppressed with the introduction of organic DC molecules.…”

“…16,18 The O 1s spectrum shows a peak at 532.5 eV ascribed to oxygen bonded to C (Figure S3d). 19 The binding energies of I 3d 3/2 and I 3d 5/2 are centered at 629.9 and 618.3 eV (Figure S3e), respectively, and could be attributed to I − species present in the composite. 20 The peaks for Ag 3d 3/2 (373.6 eV) and Ag 3d 5/2 (367.7 eV) (Figure S3f) and for Pb 4f 5/2 (142.5 eV) and Pb 4f 7/2 (137.7 eV) (Figure S3g) can be attributed to characteristic signals from Pb 2+ and Ag + species, respectively.…”

“…13 D, in presence of CBTC, R max = 156 nm, R q = 20.0 nm, R a = 15.4 nm. The lower value of roughness in presence of inhibitors is because of the adsorption of inhibitor molecules on the MS surface 55 .
