Potential of Fruit and Vegetable Waste as Eco-enzyme Fertilizer for Plants

Abstract: This study aims to determine the source of eco-enzyme raw materials and the most appropriate dilution volume to produce quality eco-enzyme fertilizer for plant growth. 1 (sugar): 3 (fruit and vegetable waste): 10 (water). The resulting eco-enzyme liquid is processed into fertilizer through the dilution process. Eco-enzyme fertilizers from each raw material source contain different organic N, P, K, and C nutrients. Besides that, some enzymes are beneficial to plants. This research is experimental in the laborat… Show more

“…Eco-enzyme which comes from orange peel has advantages because oranges contain various substances such as phenols, amino acids, essential oils, pectin, carotenoids, flavonoids and vitamin C (Epifano et al 2014;Benny et al, 2023), hormones, organic acids, enzymes and mineral salts that accelerate plant biochemical reactions (Fadlilla et al, 2023). One of the advantages of eco-enzyme is its ability to dissolve organic compounds in inside.…”

“…The content in eco-enzyme is acetic acid (CH3COOH), which can kill germs, viruses, and bacteria as well as enzymes of lipase, cellulase, invertase, laccase, xylanase, pectinase, tannase, trypsin, and amylase, which can help fertilize the soil [9]. In addition, NO3 -(nitrate ion) and CO2 (carbon dioxide) are also produced, which are needed by the soil as nutrients [10]. The chemical reactions that occurred in the eco-enzyme fermentation process are as follows:…”
